Dr. Glenn B. Gero
N.D., M.Sc., M.H., M.E.S., C.L.C . Licensed/Registered/Board certified Naturopathic Doctor Professional Member of the American Herbalist Guild
Prior to beginning my master’s program with the Edison Institute of Nutrition, I had already attained master’s degrees in business and botanical medicine, a doctorate in naturopathic medicine and over a dozen certifications in various aspects in holistic healthcare. Having experience with both brick and mortar institutions, as well as distance learning schools, I thoroughly scrutinized the Edison program prior to commencing. I researched its reputation, its curriculum, and course format and found it to be the most convenient, yet most comprehensive nutrition education school available.
I was certainly impressed with the course content, the choice of textbooks, and the manner in which assignments were submitted, as well as the assistance that I received from the staff at Edison. The Edison program was one of my most rewarding educational experiences. It has formed the foundational framework supporting all of my subsequent training and I am very proud to be a graduate of the Edison Institute of Nutrition.
Since completing my education I was accepted to participate in the post-graduate association at Harvard Medical School, completed certifications in biofeedback, life coaching and medical exercise and have been so inspired that I am now pursuing a doctor of science in nutrition.
I have a very busy private naturopathic practice in Clifton, New Jersey, and continue to use many of the principles learned from my Edison education.

Michale Hartte was awarded her Bachelor’s Degree in Applied Science with a specialty in Nutrition from Ontario’s Edison Institute of Nutrition, in 2004. She is a Natural Nutritional Consultant Practitioner (NNCP) and a professional member of the Canadian Association of Natural Nutritional Consultants Practitioners (CANNP). Michale is the mother of two young children. Her heart-felt mission is to help find simple solutions for a healthier life through a personalized, natural, health-focused lifestyle and eating plan.
Michale’s own personal journey to wellness started with a teenage illness where she was diagnosed by a Doctor as having “the immune system of an 80-year old Grandma.” This doctor warned that if she continued her destructive lifestyle and eating habits, she would be well on her way to developing a major degenerative disease.
These words of wisdom were not enough to make her change. Michale felt sick, tired, and very unhealthy. Searching for answers, Michale began looking to the mainstream media for direction. In her quest for health, she tried a lot of ‘diet advice’, including replacing high quantities of sugar and fat in her diet with artificial sugars and margarine. Following this direction led her to feel even more sick and tired!
Michale later developed Amenorrhea and Osteoporosis at the young age of 31. This was the “wake up call” that finally led her to look into the power of whole foods, and a healthy mindset for both healing and in creating top-level fitness and health. Michale has actually reversed this bone condition and is NOT considered to have Osteoprosis to this day.
Michale has 14 years experience in various areas of health and fitness. Her special interest is in helping people discover the nutritional and metabolic imbalances that are contributing to their undesirable symptoms or conditions including: obesity/overweight, hypothyroidism, high cholesterol, diabetes, high blood pressure and cancer. Michale’s personal healing journey and deep satisfaction from helping people achieve healthy minds and bodies, has inspired her to create a website where she offers Customized Online Nutritional Plans. Visit www.fitnhealthynutrition.com for your FREE health assessment.
Michale also has a private consulting practice, ‘Fit ‘n Healthy Nutritional Consulting’ in Kelowna, BC, where she offers one-on-one nutritional consulting and Biotherapeutic Drainage TM (a specialized method of toxin removal, using homeopathic drops, to safely and easily remove the ‘stored up junk’ commonly associated with pain and disease).
Biotherapeutic Drainage TM addresses the underlying cause of disease is not just the symptoms. As a Nutritional Consultant and Biotherapeutic Drainage Practitioner, Michale has been able to help countless others regenerate their health using these highly effective natural methods.
Michale is a strong believer in the body’s ability to heal itself by cleaning up the “inner terrain.” This foundational belief has been verified through all her experience as a Researcher, Nutritional Counsellor, Writer and Educator to truly get results.
Michale has written for many popular health publications including Okanagan Health Magazine, Canada’s Alive Health Magazine, Blush Magazine and Nature’s Fare Nutritional News.
She is the creator/author of the nutrition plan featured in “Bob Proctor’s Life Success Perfect Weight Program,” where she illustrates, step-by-step, how one can correct the most common individual metabolic imbalances that are closely associated with being overweight! Her latest program “the Fit ‘n Healthy Plan” has just been released where she carefully guides her readers on how to look and feel Fit ‘n Healthy in using three simple steps. Step one begins with the individual assessment. Step two gives the results of the assessment with subsequent recommendations. Step three completes the system with a diet and lifestyle plan that becomes customized based on the results of the initial assessment. This system supports Vegetarian, Vegan and Animal Sourced Diets with specific foods, food combinations and supplements to optimize those diets. She is also currently working on a ‘Fit ‘n’ Healthy Diet and Lifestyle System’ for Children.
Dr. Matthew McLaren
“On July 10, 1997, I almost became a statistic. Fear, anger, and total shock sent my emotions skyrocketing. That was the day I found out I had prostate cancer. The news came after a visit to my doctor for a routine checkup. As a child of God, I now know that I have more control over my health than we have been taught. My health is my responsibility. I have the choice to determine what I put in my body and what lifestyle I live. If I give up that responsibility to a stranger, I become disempowered and de-energized. I do not see myself as a survivor; I see myself living a life of high self-esteem filled with energy and vitality.”
Matthew overcame his cancer and studied with Edison from 2000 – 2003, when he completed his Masters. In Jan 2007, at the age of 67, Matthew completed his doctoral degree through Westbrook University, West Virginia, USA. Matthew lives with his wife, Theresa in Whitby, Ontario. He has since completed his first book. Life Begins at 65 is a veritable encyclopedia of etiology, anatomy, physiology and biochemistry, as well as various treatments of prostate cancer. Matthew weaves his personal experience with scientific observations to provide an accessible guide to overcoming this disease, or more importantly, preventing it in the first place.
Spirituality and the power of the mind-body relationship create a solid platform from which to build a healthy lifestyle. Matthew details his experience with prostate cancer in language that is easy to understand. At the same time, his knowledge of treatments and physiology make this a useful book for medical professionals seeking unique perspectives on patient care.
Life Begins at 65 begins with McLaren’s personal account of living with prostate cancer. From there, he expands into an overview of the disease; conventional and alternative treatments; and preventive maintenance through alignment of the mind and body. Diagrams and photographs enhance readers’ understanding of prostate cancer, while McLaren’s down-to-earth style provides warmth and encouragement in what may be a time of great anxiety.
“Characteristically, people with cancer don’t feel entitled to express negative feelings, including anger,” writes David W. Roland in the introduction. “They keep these negative feelings bottled up, eating away inside, so to speak. Matthew points a way out of all this. Follow his lead. Don’t take anything at face value. Question everything. Examine all your options. Choose the ones that feel best to you. Do this and you will be self-empowered. Hopelessness and helplessness will then be in your past, as will your cancer.”
My path has certainly been a winding one and I have ended up where I am as a result of much trial, error, course correction and self-exploration.
I grew up in the arts, studying dance and Shakespeare while others were in science class. I graduated from a performing arts high school and moved to the US to train as a professional actor. It never entered my mind that I would have any career other than in the arts but by the time I had reached my mid-twenties and was living in Toronto, where I had grown up, my mind began to change.
I always had an inclination towards natural health and healing, used food, herbs and natural supplements to heal my body and believed there was a distinct connection between the thoughts I created in my head and their expression in my body. I didn’t know that this was any particular philosophy for living or working or that I could build my profession on these beliefs. I simply followed my interests like a trail of breadcrumbs and ended up in the most perfect place.
I began to investigate certification courses in energy healing and then reflexology. I studied anatomy and pathology and soon rented a small room in a wellness centre and began to treat clients. As much as I enjoyed offering body work, what I really loved were the therapeutic aspects. Most of my clients saw my service as being a “treat” for themselves – a way to relax every now and then, but did not use the modality in a therapeutic manner to address the root cause of disease. That was the really juicy stuff I wanted to roll up my sleeves and get into. I felt I was on the right track, but hadn’t quite hit the nail on the head.
I continued to search, investigating homeopathy, naturopathy, herbalism, TCM and finally holistic nutrition. I knew right away that I had found the thing I was meant to do. I researched several schools and Edison felt like the best fit for me.
Once my course work was complete I began one-on-one nutrition counselling in a multi-disciplinary clinic, as well as offering weight loss and sports nutrition in a local gym. Never before had I worked so many hours and needed a vacation less! I was exhilarated with my new career and let my passion for it come through in everything I did.
Little did I know, but one of my very first clients worked for a large PR firm in downtown Toronto. She loved my energy and enthusiasm and asked me to come and give a seminar at her office, which I gladly did. (The old performer in me was thrilled to have a captive audience once again!) After my presentation, I was approached by several account managers at the PR firm, working on nutrition related accounts, and they asked me if I would be comfortable working with them in a spokesperson role. I went on to do television, print and radio interviews on various health and nutrition topics, bringing my old and new skills together in the most thrilling and meaningful way.
Now I maintain a small private practise in downtown Toronto but my new passion is LivingFuel (www.livingfuel.ca). I was very fortunate to join this burgeoning new company, distributing premium nutritional products in Canada. The winding road I travelled on my journey to become a Nutritionist has paid off. I use my skills with media, sales, product knowledge and nutritional counselling to provide education and marketing initiatives for LivingFuel. My role is exciting and dynamic and I am thrilled to have the opportunity to work in an environment where the principles of holistic nutrition are upheld to such a high standard.
My advice to any one starting out in this field is to be yourself, be open, speak and act with integrity. I allow my personality to come through in everything I do and that has opened doors for me that I never knew existed. I have defined what I enjoy and what is important to me and based on that criteria, I try and say yes more than I say no, because that opens up opportunities that take me in the direction I wish to move. I never could have pictured how my journey would unfold and that I would be where I am right now. It has taken a lot of work but the road has not felt hard. Now four years after graduation, I can still say I have never worked more and needed a vacation less and that is a tremendous blessing.
