EIN is a school without walls. Students work at their own pace in the comfort of their own homes, wherever in the world they are located. Faculty and students communicate with each other via telephone, fax, internet chat group, email and postal service. All instruction, textbooks and supporting materials are in the English language. As of February 1, 2009, ownership of Edison Institute of Nutrition was placed in the very capable hands of Lynne Hinton BSc, BEd, ROHP/RNT, CHCP and Marlene Marshall, CNP (HON), ROHP/RNT, CHCP. “We are very excited and blessed to be the new directors and owners of EIN.
We would like to thank Debby Hansen and David Rowland for the wonderful legacy they have built and nurtured since 1996. Thanks to their vision, EIN is truly at the forefront of nutritional education. Through Edison’s programs, we look forward to the opportunity to share our expertise, personal support and mentoring to facilitate your success in your own healing journey and to inspire you to share that with others. Holistic health knowledge is exploding to the forefront as people look for a natural approach to resolve their health issues. It is our goal to position you as leaders in the field of nutrition through Edison’s evolving and outstanding curriculum. David W. Rowland, MBA, PhD (Nutr) was the founder of Edison Institute of Nutrition and the Nutritional Consultants Organization of Canada (NCOC), now IONC.
For the first 30 years of his life, David suffered from very severe and repeated bouts of respiratory infections, gastrointestinal disturbances and malaise. His ill health was really a blessing that encouraged him to learn about natural methods of healing. In the process of curing himself, David discovered his deep love for informing others about their health options. David's personal path to full health led him to undertake extensive training in nutrition, eventually leading to a PhD degree in this field. The Edison Institute of Nutrition (EIN) began as the culmination of David's many years of studying, practicing, writing and teaching. Through Edison’s programs, he wished to share his love for this exciting field with all who would like to participate.
The program has continued to be developed and administered by experienced practitioners for practitioners. From 2003 - 2009, Debby Hansen MASc (Nutr.) RNCP/ROHP, RHom was at the helm of EIN. Debby has updated, expanded and developed entirely new courses to add to the curriculum of the EIN Program. Debby worked very diligently to have the EIN Practitioner Program officially approved for professional membership through NANP in the USA. Debby is currently involved with EIN in an advisory capacity which allows her more time to fulfill her passion of consulting with clients.
